Join the "Spencer County Spider Monkey" Team
At Spencer County Martial Arts, we pride ourselves on our kids' jiu-jitsu program. Every child is known as a "Spencer County Spider Monkey" and is part of a larger community that stresses self-discipline, self-control, mutual respect, and building self-esteem.
Our classes consist of instruction in the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Self-Defense program with a focus on basic positions and movement. Our goal is to equip young students with a core understanding of self-defense as well as a solid understanding of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu basics, emphasizing how to use leverage and technique to overcome a much larger attacker.
Taught in a safe and family-friendly atmosphere, our kids' jiu-jitsu program is offered every Saturday from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Our program will help your child develop:
Discipline
We're committed to helping your child discover that through self-discipline and perseverance he or she can accomplish anything. Through focus and one-on-one attention by our instructors, regular class attendance will ensure character development and a "can-do" attitude.
Self-Defense
At our Academy, we teach children to think rationally instead of panic in serious situations, as well as how to appropriately react to threats from others. Your child will be taught not to be a bully. For life-threatening situations only, our students learn how to defend themselves with techniques designed to work against much larger and stronger opponents.
Better Grades
Being a martial artist also means being a better student. At Spencer County Martial Arts, every child learns to follow directions, pay attention in class and work as a team. These skills help them to become better academics.
Self-Confidence
For many children, self-confidence doesn't come naturally. Confidence is developed over a period of time. As a child accomplishes new goals, his or her confidence-level increases. Children become more self-confident at Spencer County Martial Arts because they progress at their own pace and are given positive, constructive feedback at every class.
We welcome you to stop by our Academy and watch one of our classes in action. Your child can participate in a free class with absolutely no obligation to sign-up. To take the first step, call us at (502) 422-1957.
